Fortunately, there are some simple steps you can follow to replace your Volvo key fob battery on your own. Find a clean area to work on. Make a list of all the tools that you'll need. Find the battery's hatch and open it using an open-ended flathead, coin, or other similar tool. Next, carefully pry out the battery by lifting the side closest to the hook of the key-ring. Make sure you wear rubber gloves to protect the clips or electronic contact surfaces.

Once the battery has been removed, put the new battery into its socket. Make sure that the positive side is facing upwards and that it's seated within all clips. Slide the cover toward the key-ring section until it becomes loose and slides off. Then, take off the cover and reveal the key blade hidden inside. It can be used to unlock your car from the driver's door in the event that you've lost or damaged your key fob.
