Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo drivers are enthralled by the remote control features of their key fob. Using a smartphone app, they can lock and unlock the vehicle or start the engine and even locate it.

First, place the fob on a clean surface with the logo side facing upwards. Locate the button that lets you release it, insert an object between the cover and the fob and pull it up gently.

Take it off by sliding it downwards and to the right. The cover will be released, and then slide off revealing the manual blade! If you are unable to locate the button, look around the now-revealed manual key access for an undiscovered lever or slot.

Closing the Windows

One of the nefarious features that is not visible on Volvo key fobs is the ability to lower all windows instantly by using them. This is helpful when you're trying to squeeze into parking spaces that are tight or just want to breathe fresh air while driving.

Press and hold the unlock button on your volvo excavator key remote control for four seconds. This will lower all of the windows, and also the sunroof, if your car has one. When you're finished with the vehicle, you can close all windows by pressing the lock button again for four seconds.

You can also use your key fob to trigger your car's panic alarm. If you have the Hands Free Liftgate with Logo Projection and Programmable Height (if equipped), then you can open it with the key fob. You can open the liftgate by pressing the button and then close it with the same button.

Turning Off the Alarm

Modern key fobs are more practical than a mechanical car key. However, they don't work completely for a long time, and the batteries eventually fail. If you're running out of time or do not want to visit a store to have your key fob programmed, you can get it to work at home.

Choose a clean, flat surface and lay out your key fob, battery, and any other keys. Locate the small black button in the bottom left corner on the key fob. move it to the right. The cover should fall off and reveal the mechanical key blade underneath.

The button for unlocking the key fob two times quickly, and you will be able to open all the doors as well as the tailgate. The lock button will also close the sunroof and windows (if fitted) by pressing it for 2 seconds. Reconnect the battery and the alarm will stop. If it doesn't, then the owner's manual should include a method to reset the system.
