bagless automated cleaners WiFi-Connected Robot Vacuum

This bagless wifi-connected robot has an all-black, utilitarian design. Its price is comparable to top-of-the-line smart robotic vacuums.

You can control it with the physical Clean and Dock buttons at the top of the screen, through the SharkClean app, or via voice commands with Alexa and Google Assistant. It has a range of smart features, such as home mapping and virtual no-go zones.

Matrix Clean

It's simple to connect the Matrix to your wireless network and start mapping your rooms using the SharkClean app on your smartphone. After mapping, the app lets you create a schedule for your robot to keep your home clean, or select individual rooms to have Matrix automatically start a cleaning session. You can also create 'no go zones such as closets or beds which you don't want it to get into.

The app allows you to make use of the "spot cleaning" function on demand. You can select an area that is dirty on your bagless floor cleaners map, and the robot will then clean the area automatically using multiple swipes on its cleaning pad. It does an excellent job of picking up everything from dog hair tangles to tiny bits of paper cut up from a recent crafting project.

The Matrix will return to its dock after it has finished cleaning and empty itself in the bin included. This is a pretty neat feature because it reduces the amount of hand-on maintenance you need to do.

This robot's LIDAR mapping sensor is located right on top. This may make it difficult to climb under furniture that is low like tables and sofas. If you're okay with being a bit taller than other robots it's still an excellent option. Be aware that this robot isn't equipped with a HEPA air filter, like others on this list.

Precision Home Mapping

Powerful Suction

The RV2502AE is an excellent mid-range robot cleaner that checks all of the boxes. It is easy to use, produces precise home maps, and comes with a an automatic bag emptying system. It's also cheaper to run than other robot vacuums.

It's also got plenty of power, scooping up debris through its suction opening and relying on its side brushes to push carpet and hair threads into the path of the brushroll. This avoids the build-up and clogging of the brushroll as seen on other robotic vacuums and makes this machine more effective in picking up pet hair.

This robot has an impressive suction system that self-empties the base and a high-efficiency HEPA filtering system that can capture 99% allergens and dust mites. It also features two power modes to fit different kinds of floors, and a remote that allows you to access all its functions. It is also compatible with voice assistants, such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant and allows you to begin cleaning without even touching the robot.

While it's a great choice for homes of all kinds, some may have issues with its navigation abilities. Contrary to other bump robots that are able to avoid stairs but this one was having trouble with stairs. It relied on LiDAR sensors and infrared to map my home but it was constantly mistaking my cat condo as stairs and asked me to move it. It also had a shorter time to run than advertised, which was only 180 minutes.

Self-Empty Base

Some robots, including this one, have self-emptying bases. These bases vacuum or dump debris from the dust bin on board to an external dirt bin. This makes maintenance much easier. These are known as Clean Base Dirt Disposal (iRobot), Auto Empty Station (Ecovacs) or bagless compact vacuums Self-Emptying Base (Shark). They're a great convenience, but they can be noisy and messy, and they usually require special disposal bags.

This Shark model comes with an HEPA filtering bagless automated vacuums base. It has a huge capacity. It can hold debris for up to 60 days, and does not require daily emptying like other models. Shark's incredible suction can handle even the toughest messes. The only issue is that the vacuum system used by the docking station to empty the dust bin on board is surprisingly loud.

When the robot is plugged in and charging, it will emit a beep and a green light at its top will pulse to signal that it's ready to start cleaning. When the battery of the robot is depleted it will dock to its base until it's recharged. It is crucial that the dock, or Self-Empty Base is set up so that it is not hindered by furniture or other objects and is free of obstructions.

Although this model is slightly more expensive than some of the other mid-range robotic mops we've tested, it feels solid and performs better on plain floors as well as a longer battery life, less demanding maintenance requirements, and a greater selection of automation options that include virtual boundary markers. The iRobot Roomba i7 is still our top choice, however, because it feels more durable and refined, charges faster, and gets caught on rug tassels fewer often. It also has a greater capacity for its battery.

Easy Setup

The Shark AI Ultra comes with an easy-to-use schedule that requires only few inputs. You can choose the date and time of sunset and sunrise and the duration of the ramp times (increasing or decreasing the brightness) and if you wish to switch on the lights at nighttime.

It doesn't offer smart mapping or voice control like Alexa or Google Assistant, but it has a useful free programming suite. This suite includes a number of Windows-based tools that allow for operating parameter settings and communication, dmXLAN switch and node configuration and also real-time testing and fast replication to multiple installations.

Even the most novice users will not have any trouble navigating through the interface. It has tabs on the top that correspond to the different screens that the installer will show, and there are also tabs that allow you to play with the various options for messages and colors. It is a powerful tool that lets you quickly create an installation of your program. The program is just 1.3MB in size and works with Windows 7 to Windows 95.
