If you're on a tight budget and don't need a stroller that doubles up as car seat carriers the Babyzen Yoyo is a good choice. It features a flip-flop-friendly one-step footbrake.

It's also a breeze to push and feels solid when you're navigating kerbs and woodland paths. Plus, it's a dream to fold.

1. Babyzen YOYO2

The Babyzen YOYO2 has earned itself a reputation as the ultimate lightweight buggy for city dwellers and jet-setters alike, thanks to its nimble maneuverability and fold-down that fits into aeroplane overhead luggage. This latest version boasts independent suspension on all four wheels that is made from Hytrel elastomer that allows it to perfectly navigate through all kinds of surfaces and terrain'.

The bent fabric bassinet, base YOYO2 frame and 6+ months colour pack combine to create a chic pushchair that has a soft elegant design. The base frame alone weighs just under a kilo and is so light you can easily lift it from the box (and do so one-handed).

It's also easy to add or remove attachments or adaptors like the hood for instance, snaps on to the YOYO2 using reassuring clicks - as well as being machine washable at 30deg to prevent staining from rice cakes smushed and half-dissolved carrot puffs. The Newborn Pack and bassinet can be used from birth as an infant stroller. It could also be converted into a stroller after 6 months using the YOYO connect to additional chassis.

2. Evenflo Pivot Xplore

The Evenflo Pivot Xplore is a great option for parents who want a stroller that can be used in a variety of ways. It can be converted from a stroller to a wagon just by flipping the handle, so parents can select which mode they prefer on their journey. The wagon can hold one or two kids from 6 months old to 5 years, and it comes with a large storage basket for all of your on-the-go needs.

The Xplore has dual canopies which rotate from front-to-back, providing adequate sun protection for the entire family. It also has a footwell that's not as deep or wide as other wagons, so it might not be comfortable for long-distance trips or napping.

The frame of the Xplore feels sturdy and solid but it doesn't have the same flex as some of the other wagons we have tested. It is also more difficult to fold than some of the other models and does not secure when folded. It is easy to move however, and can fit through narrow 28-inch doors.

3. Delta Children LX Side-by-Side

This basic double stroller from Delta Children is an excellent option for parents who want an affordable, second-hand travel stroller. It scored highly in our Strollers & Multiples Test for its weight and folded dimensions, which means it's lightweight and compact when folded and easy to lift and store in a trunk of a car. It also has the option of reclining in multiple positions and an adult cup holder. Other key features include 360-degree shock absorbing front wheels as well as two large hanging storage bags.

It did better in our push and turn test than a lot of the other strollers we tested, but it is still difficult to maneuver over uneven ground or through narrow doors. Its sunshades are among the most compact we tested, with only direct overhead coverage, and no windows that peek out. The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 and Zoe Twin+ have significantly larger sunshades.

It took us less than three minutes to put together the Delta using a standard manual. All of the components required tools. It's lacking certain features we consider essential in double strollers. These include an extra-large basket, reclining seats and adjustable leg rests.

4. Maxi-Cosi Zelia 2-in-1

The Zelia is Maxi-Cosi’s newest pushchair that is advertised as an urban travel system. It can be used from birth until around 3.5-years-old. The carrycot and seat can be converted easily with just a few clicks. It can also be used with Maxi-Cosi capsule car seats, and comes with the light Mico 30 infant car seat, stay-in-car base, and a reversible car.

The seat reclines with one hand, and the big shopping basket makes it simple for parents to help their child in and out. Despite being a narrow pushchair it handled the everyday bumps with ease and slid through doors without any fuss.

The front wheels can be locked in forward positions or allow them to swivel which helps when covering rough terrain. On our walk along the stony path we let them swivel and it performed well, although it seemed slightly bumpier than other models that we tested.

5. Baby Jogger City Tour 2,

Baby Jogger is most famous for its three-wheeled, all-terrain jogging strollers. However, they also manufacture a vast selection of pushchairs with four wheels. The City Tour 2 is one of their most loved models. It folds easily and fits easily into the boot of a car even with a carrycot attached.

It is a bit heavier than other strollers that we tried, but the wheels are a rubber composite, which makes it feel well-built and sturdy. It is easy to maneuver across various terrains and even with two children with shopping bags and other things.

Both the carrycot and seat have hoods that can be removed to reveal UV50+ sun canopy extension. They are sturdy and waterproof, unlike other prams hoods which can be blown back onto toddlers faces.

It's not a lot of storage space, but it does come with a huge basket that's big enough to hold an infant's changing bag and plenty of food items. It can also be connected with a Baby Jogger infant car seat to create a travel system for infants up to 20 pounds (car seat and adapters are sold separately). If you are looking for a stroller that can be used on the road, the City Tour 2 is an excellent option.

6. Nuna Mixx Next

Nuna Mixx was an infant stroller that captivated the hearts of a lot of parents when it first appeared. It's a stroller made of aluminum which can be used from infant's earliest days through. It has a number of notable features, including the possibility of flipping the seat to be parent-facing and world-facing, a huge UPF 50+ canopy that has an eye-shade that flips out and a spacious basket as well as an adjustable handlebar.

The wheels are strong and filled with foam, which reduces the risk of punctures. The chassis also has built-in suspension that eases the pain of rough terrain. It was easy to push and our test driver was able to maneuver the car through the narrow streets.

It folds in just four steps and automatically locks without fuss. It can also be rolled and raised for easier transportation down the stairs or in the boot of the car. The travel system is also offered with the option to add an additional car seat or carrycot using the adaptors included. The brakes come with a single action and are colour coded. They also are compatible with flip-flops.

This budget-friendly pushchair is simple to operate and features a fantastic dual suspension. It can be folded with one hand and comes with a convenient carrying strap. It's also very light and sturdy. The seat is reclined in several positions. It is equipped with a double-breathable mattress that can be used for babies from birth.

8. Baby Jogger Urban Glide 2

The Thule Urban Glide 2 is a jogger for parents who love to be active. It's one of the lightest running strollers that you can get for your child. It comes with great safety features like five-point harnesses and a secure wrist strap. It also comes with a twist hand brake that's different than the lever type found on competing models.

The seat is well padded and provides a wide area to sit. However the seat's depth is less than that of other runners (it's only about 10") The storage bin has a zippered cover to help keep items secure. It can hold up to 10 lbs which is sufficient for most diaper bags.

The Urban Glide 2 doesn't come with adapters that will fit the majority of infant car seats and bassinets however, you can use them starting from the first day using adapters that work with brands such as BOB, Graco Combi Evenflo Britax UPPAbaby. It folds up compactly and takes between 5 and 10 minutes to put together with no tools. The instruction manual is simple to understand and is available in multiple languages.
