1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ a great option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin when it fills up.

Both robots are proficient in removing dirt and dust particles on floors and carpets and are able to navigate around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart map of your home to aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean efficiently. The i3+ does not have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or other top-rated robots we have tested. It could be stuck on power cords or socks, and may have trouble navigating between surfaces, such as rug and hardwood.

iRobot suggests that you clean the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or other items it might encounter. 2. Roomba from iRobot

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in the iRobot flagship line and comes with all the latest features. It's self-charging, self-navigating and the most important feature of all -- it comes with an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ can make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot using voice or via the app.

In our tests, the i7+ was more agile and faster than our top choice, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surface types including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin which removes major maintenance sources and reduces recurring cost.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions, move itself around the room and vacuum a specific space. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. When connected, we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and evaluating performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a world of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of households, but it also fits perfectly next to the coffee table or the bookshelf, where you can wave it around like the magic tool.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces fade-free power for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system traps allergens and releases cleaner air back into your home. However, this model isn't a good choice: It's lighter and agile than older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming performance is noticeably better on low-pile carpet.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's a great choice for those who don't have a lot of money to invest in the latest model of robot. It was able to remove most types of debris and sizes in our tests and would often go over the same area multiple times for a thorough clean. Its flat front makes it possible to reach the corners and the edges of walls.

Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it's not equipped with the mapping capability of more sophisticated models such as our top selections and the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. As a result, it is sometimes stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't in good condition, and often will run out of battery before making it back to its home base.
