Whether you're taking public transport or frequently travelling by car, a lightweight compact stroller is an excellent choice. These strollers are easier to fold and store, and they're less likely to get damaged by baggage handlers.

These strollers that are lightweight are comfortable and easy to maneuver over cobblestones. Plus, they can be easily stored in overhead compartments of planes.

The Joie Pact Pro is the ideal travel stroller, folding down so small that it fits into an overhead luggage compartment, and weighing so little you'll not even notice it in your car boot. It is also a good stroller for everyday use. Our test-driver Hollie found that it was easy to steer, even when juggling a one-year-old. She was impressed by the adjustable handle, lockable wheels and the reclining seat. However, she noted that it wasn't particularly comfortable. She also likes the fact that you can add other features like a reversible and washable seat cover, rain cover and a foot muff.

The Babyzen YoYO fold pushchair is another compact folding stroller. It isn't as streamlined as the Cybex Libelle, but it's still a very neat pack when folded. It can be easily slotted in and out of trunks and car boots. It also has more options for babies than other buggies for travel, including the option to add an infant cot or bassinet, plus a bespoke ride-on board for older kids and a double seat adapter.

It's not the smallest buggy to drive on uneven or rough terrain, and its tinier wheels aren't as efficient as other models we have tested. However, it is still an extremely maneuverable pushchair and the YOYO is a great choice of navigating narrow shopping aisles and muddy trails. It's ideal for a city break or holiday.

The Cosatto Bee6 offers a remarkably simple list of features at its competitive price. It can be folded down to the size of a large backpack and weighs just 6kg, so it's an easy to carry on trains and planes. It is also very easy to steer, and our MFM test driver Matt found it to be enjoyable to steer, even with a large toddler was riding along. The hood is a benefit, since it can be raised to provide shade and protection from sun and rain. It's ideal for nap time. Its only downside is that there's no under-seat storage, and you have to carry or hang your bag over the handlebars (against the advice of an expert!). Alternatively, you can purchase a separately sold changing bag holder to make it an ideal holiday buggy.

These innovative concertina or Z-fold buggies are usually light at 6-8kg and are cabin-approved on many airlines, making them ideal for travel. MFM Editor Gemma has used it on many occasions and says it's extremely easy to use and pack away.

If you're looking for a truly compact fold, the YOYO is the pinnacle of the compact category and was one of the first buggy models of this kind. It's still a highly sought-after option, with a lot of parents preferring it over its rivals because of its unique features and superior functionality. It's the ideal option for frequent travelers particularly if you want to avoid the hassle of waiting at baggage collection and instead take your stroller with you on the plane.

The YOYO is also extremely compact and can fit into the bag with ease and having some room to spare. This makes it an ideal option for frequent travellers, especially those who need to fit a lot into their luggage. It's also extremely adaptable - you can purchase various accessories for it including baby bassinets, a bespoke ride-on board, and a twin travel bundles to transform it into a tandem.
