I went to "Tonkatsu Iwai" in Daimon, which was also named one of the 2022 Top 100 Tonkatsu Restaurants.

Speaking of Daimon, I've also eaten at "Tonkatsu Aoki".

The restaurant is on the second floor of a multi-tenant building right next to the main gate called Zojoji Daimon, and it's a little hard to find, so I almost missed it.

It was a weekday Friday, and I arrived at the restaurant around 1:15 pm, but the restaurant was just vacant and I was immediately shown to the counter.

The special thick-cut loin cutlet set meal, limited to 8 meals, was sold out, so I ordered the special loin cutlet set meal of 120g.

It costs 2,150 yen including tax, and payment is by cash only.

Extra large servings of rice are free. The photo shows a large serving.

The batter is whitish, and the meat inside is a light pink color.

They use meat from a rare type of pork from Kagoshima called Rokuhaku Kurobuta.

The recommended way to eat it is to put the provided stem of wasabi on top and dip it in Kagoshima soy sauce.

When it comes to tonkatsu, I like to dip it in sauce and I thought soy sauce was a no-no, but when I took the first bite, it was so delicious that I almost screamed.

I also tried it with mustard sauce and seaweed salt, but Kagoshima soy sauce and stem of wasabi were the best for bringing out the best flavor of the meat.

The tender meat, the sweetness when you bite into it, and the compatibility with the wasabi and Kagoshima soy sauce were excellent. The crispy batter was not oily at all.

It was the best tonkatsu I have ever eaten.

The pork soup was plentiful and the sesame oil was effective, making it a satisfying bowl.

This time, a large portion of rice was free, so I ordered a large portion, but even 120 grams was enough to fill me up.

I ate at the counter, thinking that I would come to eat here again with my boyfriend.

This is a Baccarat-like maneki-neko (beckoning cat) placed on the counter.

On the way back, I stopped by Zojoji Temple to see Tokyo Tower.

The weather was nice, so it felt good.

This time, the pork cutlet here is Tsubaki's top recommendation. If you want to eat some delicious pork cutlet, please go there.

    Thank you for reading.

I look forward to seeing you next time.
