My husband recently attended a wedding and we received some gifts. So today, I'd like to share with you how to choose a gift that will please the recipient from the perspective of a professional organizer! We received a pair of cups and saucers from a certain luxury brand. I could use them if I wanted to, but they're too expensive for our taste, so I don't think we'll use them much... We usually have 3-4 groups of guests, so it's hard to use a pair. That's my honest opinion. (Sorry.) Have you had a similar experience with gifts or gifts you received? When I visit kitchens to help with tidying up, I often get a problem with the dishes I received as gifts! A pair of Baccarat glasses, Royal Copenhagen plates, Le Creuset cocottes, Wedgwood cups, and so on... They're still in their decorative boxes, sleeping in a kitchen drawer or hanging cupboard. More than 20 customers were worried that they couldn't let go of something they received as a gift. From these experiences, I would say that it is extremely difficult to give someone something that they will be happy with! It's not about whether they already own something that will leave a lasting impression, like tableware, but whether it's a luxury brand or a standard gift, but whether they want to use it! How do you choose something that they will want to use? It's about knowing what they use on a daily basis. For example, if someone who normally uses only 100-yen plastic cups on a daily basis is given a pair of branded thin glass glasses, they are likely to fall asleep. Some people with small children haven't used fragile items for years. Also, if the taste is too different from what they use on a daily basis, they will not want to use them. For example, I want to use cups and saucers. But I don't like the traditional feel of Royal Copenhagen... Scandinavian-style general stores and Actus are better... There are times like that! So, I think the best way to choose a gift that will please someone is to choose something that they want to use, rather than something they don't have. To choose something that they want to use, try to choose something that is not too far from the type or taste of the items they usually use. I hope this will be helpful when choosing a gift. I never really thought much about gifts or gifts I received, but now my way of thinking has changed, even when it comes to choosing small gifts! I'm happy that I can now be conscious of things that will truly please the other person! We've received such wonderful feedback through our continuing course, "Tidying Up School!"
