WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. A random additional substat is also added to every upgrade.

The more modernized gear generally has a greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current item level of the item upgrader mod being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade item weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them through NPCs who sell upgrades to Item level upgrade [wikimapia.org] owners for a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will show a preview of an item's next upgrade level if there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Upgraders for items are available at many locations including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and the possibility of obtaining a new recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Crests

They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment that is of a particular rank, and every rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated may require as many as 20 crests based on the type of equipment being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons with all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons to obtain endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.

Using these new currencies isn't too complicated, but the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade item process. Once a piece of gear has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This is to allow players to get their equipment to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests only have one purpose, so it's important to use them wisely. For instance it's Best item upgrader to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment you have and keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly relevant for items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The discount for the entire account will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
